Membership Frequently Asked Questions

Who, what, where

What is Brisbane Seniors OnLine (BSOL)?

Brisbane Seniors Online is a not-for-profit association. Our volunteers help the over-fifties navigate the maze of computers and the internet. BSOL has been assisting seniors of the Greater Brisbane area since 2001.

How does it work?

You sign up as a BSOL member and pay a membership fee if you are applying to learn. Mentors and administrative volunteers join for free.

After your application is processed (usually about two weeks) a volunteer mentor will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time and place to meet and begin lessons.

Where are the venues?

Our preferred option is to teach you on your computing device in your own home. However learning in small groups may be available in some areas. There are other venues such as Brisbane City Council libraries and community centres with computers available to us. We also have a well-equipped training centre in the city. See our learning locations for more information.

What will I be taught?

You will learn basics including email, internet and security. More advanced tutoring in other topics may be available depending on our resources.

Your membership card will be your user ID to gain access to the secure areas of this web site which includes valuable information for our members and links to on-line learning so your learning can continue even after home tutoring ends.

How do I join?

Complete an online application or download and print a form. Instructions and forms can be accessed from our Membership page.

Or you can phone our Woolloongabba office on 3393 2225. Office hours are 10am to 3pm Tuesday to Friday (closed Mondays & Public Holidays).
